Artist statement

Mariana Jatahy is an experience designer and therapist from Rio de Janeiro who creates liminal spaces: intimate, often one-to-one encounters where people can experiment with new ways of being and relating to one another. Through her art, she seeks to expand the psychoanalytic frame, bringing in the body, fiction and play to create situations in which personal narratives can be stretched, questioned and rewritten. Her pieces move across performance art, immersive theater, relational practice and installation, and keep returning to themes such as time, memory, loss and finiteness.
